Messiah scored five goals from five different players in Saturday's 5-0 road win over Ohio Wesleyan...Senior Jen Myhre bagged her first collegiate goal off a corner kick in the 84th minute.

Messiah junior Kacie Klynstra took a pass from senior Steph Rowe in the 18th minute and hit it home to help lead the Falcons (8-0) to a 5-0 road win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.  In a rematch of the 2002 National Championship game, won by the Bishops, Messiah used a strong possession game to wear down the Bishops on a warm day in Delaware, Ohio and find the back of the net four times in the second half.  It was a consistent effort by the Falcons as they generated eleven shots in each half and forced OWU keeper, Ali Gary (1), into eight saves.

The first goal by Klynstra caught the Bishop defense a bit flat as Rowe's ball appeared to be headed to forward Corrie Jones.  Jones was in an off sides position at the moment but just continued her run back up the field while Klynstra streaked in from the right side behind the defense and took a touch before scoring.  Messiah could not generate another score in the period and were denied by some great efforts from Ali Gary in goal.

The second half saw Messiah's possession and defensive pressure start to tire the Bishop's efforts.  Sophomore Emily Cope scored her first goal of the season in the 54th minute as she hit a shot just inside the left post from the top of the 18 yard box.  Seven minutes later senior Avie Fitzgerald drilled home her first goal of the season as well when she ripped a ball from just outside the penalty area into the top left side of the net.  Ohio Wesleyan created some dangerous chances of their own with six shots in the second half and forced Falcon keeper Brindley Beckwith into five saves.  The Bishops best chance came in the second half on a corner kick that got headed on goal but was cleaned off the line by junior Jen Michener who was holding the post.

Senior Jen Myhre then tallied her first collegiate goal when she headed home a corner kick served by sophomore Amy Horst.  Myhre went straight down the middle of the box in a crowd and got up on the ball from eight yards out to drive it past the OWU keeper.  Freshman Erin Hench notched the last goal of the day in the 89th minute when she clipped a ball just over Gary from the 18.

Messiah returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host St. Vincents at 4:00 PM.

Kacie Klynstra scored midway through the first half to put Messiah ahead to stay, and Jennifer Myhre scored twice to highlight a 4-goal second-half eruption as the Falcons defeated the Bishops in non-conference play on Saturday at Roy Rike Field. Messiah took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when Stef Rowe sent a through ball to Klynstra, who finished the chance.
The Falcons got some insurance early in the second half when Emily Cope hit a shot from the top of the box for a 2-0 lead, and stretched the lead to 3-0 in the 61st minute as Avie Fitzgerald connected into the top left corner.
Myhre finished off the scoring in the late going, heading home a pass from Amy Horst in the 84th minute and hitting a shot from the top of the box in the 90th minute.
Messiah outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 22-9. Senior Ali Gary (Gahanna/Lincoln) went the distance in the Ohio Wesleyan goal, making 8 saves. Brindley Beckwith stopped 5 shots in the Falcon goal.
