9/13/07 Lions fall 3-2 in double overtime at home to Ohio Wesleyan University

Megan Smith (Cincinnati, OH/Milford) scored her second goal of the game with 5:23 remaining in regulation but the Lions fell tonight in double overtime to Ohio Wesleyan University, 3-2.
The Mount, 2-3 overall resume action on Sept. 16 when they play at HCAC-rival Rose-Hulman. Ohio Wesleyan University goes to 2-2-1 with the win. The Bishops won the game in the second overtime on a goal from Lindsey Macklin (14), her second of the game.

Senior defender Lindsey Macklin (14 - Columbus/Bexley) scored 2 goals, including the game-winner in the second
overtime, to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Mount St. Joseph in non-conference play on Thursday in Cincinnati.
The Lions took an early 1-0 lead when Megan Smith tallied an unassisted goal just over 6 minutes into the game. Ohio Wesleyan tied the game shortly thereafter when Macklin scored after a Bishop corner kick less than two minutes later.
The Bishops took the lead on a goal by junior forward Michelle Corbett (Dublin/Scioto) in the 15th minute, with senior midfielder Meg Smith (2 -Portage, Mich./Northern) credited with an assist on the play. Mount St. Joseph rallied to tie the game in the closing minutes of regulation time, evening the score on Smith's second goal of the game, this one with 5:23 on the clock. Allie
Pirman was credited with an assist on the goal. After one scoreless overtime, the Bishops struck quickly at the beginning of the second extra session. Corbett had a shot blocked by the MSJ defense, and on the ensuing corner kick, sophomore midfielder Megan Goodrich (7 - Seven Hills/Laurel School) sent the ball into the box and Macklin got it by Lion keeper Kelly Bare to end the game. Ohio Wesleyan outshot Mount St. Joseph, 25-16. Senior Ali Gary (Gahanna/Lincoln) stopped 9 shots in the Bishop net, while Bare finished with 13 saves in the Mount St. Joseph goal.
