Oberlin Defeated by Ohio Wesleyan University, 0-3

October 2, 2007 -- Ohio Wesleyan visited Oberlin this afternoon for a North Coast Athletic Conference women's soccer match at Fred Shults Field. The Yeowomen (2-7-1, 0-2-0 NCAC) played a hard-fought contest, but the visiting Battling Bishops (5-3-3, 1-0-1 NCAC) scored three goals in the last 50 minutes to come away with the 3-0 victory. Ohio Wesleyan visited Oberlin this afternoon for a North Coast Athletic Conference women's soccer match at Fred Shults Field. The Yeowomen (2-7-1, 0-2-0 NCAC) played a hard-fought contest, but the visiting Battling Bishops (5-3-3, 1-0-1 NCAC) scored three goals in the last 50 minutes to come away with the 3-0 victory.

Ohio Wesleyan out-shot Oberlin, 15-6, and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Michelle Corbett (4),  Allie Cozzone (18), and Chelsea Keller (32) scored goals for the Battling Bishops, while Amanda Travers was the only Yeowoman with more than one shot attempt. Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Grabinski had four saves for Oberlin in 90 minutes of action. Oberlin will travel to Earlham College on October 6 for a NCAC showdown in Richmond, Ind.

Junior forward Michelle Corbett (4 - Dublin/Scioto) scored the game-winning goal and Brooke Whitesell (15 - Dublin/Scioto) set up an insurance score as Ohio Wesleyan blanked Oberlin in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday in Oberlin.

The Bishops jumped to a 1-0 lead late in the first half on Corbett's unassisted goal. Freshman defender Chelsea Keller (32 - Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) gave the Bishops a 2-0 advantage in the third minute of the second half notching her first career Bishop goal, with junior forward Michelle Corbett (4 - Dublin/Scioto) setting up the play. Whitesell fed junior forward Allie Cozzone (18 - Chagrin Falls/Kenston) for an insurance goal in the 76th minute.

Ohio Wesleyan out shot Oberlin, 15-6. Senior Ali Gary (1- Gahanna/Lincoln) made 4 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal. Sarah Grabinski stopped 4 shots in the Oberlin goal.
